About me

I am a college teacher and scholar who works in the humanities. I am especially interested in works and ideas that have to do with love, beauty, and mourning. Currently, my focus is on the human face--its beauty and power, but also the contadictory and conflicted meanings it generates in human relations.

About my collections

My collections are made up of images of female faces I find remarkably beautiful, though the specific effect they have on me differs, which I note in how I categorize the various lists. I've posted these images for two personal reasons:

1. To consider, as well as appreciate, the beauty and power of the human face, which includes, but does not equate or reduce itself to the sexual dimensions of my being.
2. To confront the ethical obligations the human face exercises on me, especially when I experience a face as beautiful. These obligations are especially in force when I look at a face when that face is not present and cannot, therefore, hold me accountable with her response to me for how I look at her.
